Photography Exhibit & Competition
The competition was open to all parishioners, clergy, and chaplains in the Diocese of East Tennessee.
This year, we had a two-part Photo Exhibit. The first had photos entered for our 2018 People’s Choice award. The second part of the exhibit was a retrospective of work entered into previous convention Photography Exhibits – 19 photos total.
.Participants were asked to respond visually as well as verbally through a written statement of 100 words or less in one of two categories:
The theme of the convention; “Being Disciples Now,” was our overall photography theme. Entrants were asked to show and tell us what being a disciple now meant to them. There was also a humor category. Entrants were asked what raises their spirits in their daily walk with God.
Megan Alden of Church of the Ascension, Knoxville was the winner of our People’s Choice Award, with her photo titled, “Ready to Fly.” Megan said in the text accompanying her photo, “This Angel is ready to fly during our 2017 Nativity Pageant. But all of our little angels are working at being disciples now just by recreating the birth of Christ. It is their first footstep into being a follower of Jesus. They will all fly one day.” Megan’s little angels captured our hearts. Below is Megan’s prize-winning photo.
