Our inspiring February annual convention concluded Feb 10 with Eucharist at St. John’s Cathedral including the ordination of three new transitional deacons:
- Claire Brown
- Spencer Cantrell
- Elizabeth Farr
Sprinkled throughout the convention were inspiring stories of encounter and call from lay folks from across our diocese, candidates for Holy Orders, and postulants.
We were challenged and inspired by our learnings from the Rev. Dr. Robert MacSwain, who unpacked Rowan Williams’ book “Being Christian” with us. We talked about Baptism, the Bible, and Eucharist. MacSwain gave us great information for taking the book and its concepts back to our parishes for use in our Christian Formation.
Whitney Kent, host and executive producer of WVLT’s Moms Everyday, kept Bishop Brian on his toes, and kept us very entertained, with her interview questions to the bishop Friday evening. We got to know the bishop better and had many laughs along the way!
The Rev. Hendree Harrison preached at our Convention Closing Eucharist. View his inspiring sermon on St. John’s Cathedral YouTube Channel here.
